As a composite manufacturing company we actively embrace environmental responsibilities

In the United States, composite manufacturing is a 25 billion dollar a year industry, and it is one of the few industries in which the U.S. is more advanced than most competitors abroad. There are seven thousand composite related manufacturing plants and materials distributors across the U.S. These facilities employ more than 236,000 people. An additional 250,000 people are employed in businesses that support the composites industry, including materials suppliers, equipment vendors, and other support personnel.

We proactively incorporate technology to lower emissions and reduce noise.  When people express concern about composite manufacturers and the environment they often focus on permit levels for volatile organic compounds (VOCs.) A VOC is a category of liquid materials that will burn under normal conditions.  When this material evaporates without burning they become a VOC.  Our emissions are generated creating 124 full time jobs. We are permitted to emit a level of 245 tons per year. Our actual emissions for 2006 were 54 tons.  To put that into perspective an average car driven in the Treasure Valley emits approximately 80 lbs per year. The total automobile and truck traffic in our air shed yearly generate just over 91,000 tons of emissions.

Always environmentally conscious, Best Bath Systems continually monitors important manufacturing processes including emissions, odor, dust and safety systems to provide maximum protection to our employees, neighbors and our local environment while remaining true to a level of performance and execution expected by our customers. Best Bath Systems is a manufacture of composite bathing units that utilize polyester resin, polyester gel-coat, fiberglass reinforcements, inert fillers, wood, plywood, and initiators in the manufacturing process. We meet and/or exceed all regulatory requirements for the state of Idaho and the U.S. government.  We are involved in our national trade association and have been active in promoting association environmental guidelines that are lower than governmental guidelines.

We believe it is important to offer innovative bathing solutions and materials that address the increasingly challenging demands of our customers and regulators. Our manufacturing processes meet and exceed EPS and IDEQ criteria for MACT (maximum achievable technologies). We were proud to be the first Idaho fiberglass manufacturer to meet MACT standards.

We always strive to exceed environmental standards.  Our attitude is to always comply with environmental regulations and to incorporate systems that address and meet the intention.  Our operations depend on strict compliance with EPA and IDEQ laws and regulations. We have a close working relationship with the Department of Environmental Quality to receive and utilize current information on regulations, approaches and laws.

Working with chemicals and solvents is a responsibility we take very seriously. Our processes depend upon a strict adherence to safety and handling procedures. Daily emissions logs are maintained to closely monitor all chemical emissions including styrene that are crucial in composite manufacturing.  Our procedures assure minimum emissions of noise, dust and chemical odors.

Best Bath has worked to achieve an excellent safety record and is committed to improvements to maintain a safe working environment. We offer annual refresher trainings, a hearing conservation program and hazardous communication training among others to educate our employees.
